I wore a smile today
My outer display
One for you is free
The others one for me
These smiles of mine are tired
These smiles of mine are sad
They hide a story
Of time lost you see
Moments gone in the years
of living on pause with those fears
I know it’s my journey to heal and live
Grateful I can share and continue to live
Can’t fool myself as I do feel damaged
But the spirit is strong: this I’ll manage
So smile is what I do throughout the day
It’s my sunshine to push the clouds away
Wanting so hard to live and breathe
to not have fear of him I need to achieve
I will keep sad smiling: this is the cost
of mourned family illusions: so much lost
So sad smiles on my face is what I wear
They keep us going: I forever declare
